| While
people who are staying on the Costa del Sol may feel the urge every so often
to head for the hills and take a trip inland, those who are situated inland
may also get a sudden desire now and again to head for the coast and enjoy
a lovely walk along the beach. The best places to go will depend on whom you ask, since everyone has their own idea, but one of our favourites is Puerto Banus. Home from home at times to many of the rich and famous, with enough designer fashion outlets, luxury shopping malls and expensive, but very chic restaurants to satisfy anyone’s wildest spending lusts, there is also one absolute jewel which doesn’t cost a single euro cent. Starting at Neptune’s statue, with its beautiful mountain backdrop, a well-established and attractive pedestrian avenue leads away from town along the beach towards Marbella. Apart from a short diversion along the sand, where a row of houses is simply too close to the water to allow room, the pathway is wide, flat and well maintained. Well used too at weekends, by power walkers, dog walkers, husband walkers and groups of strolling friends, interspersed of course by bicycles whizzing in both directions. The atmosphere is enlivening, to say the least. By complete contrast, weekdays provide the ideal alternative for those who prefer something a little more tranquil. Offering beautiful views at every turn, the pathway goes all the way to Marbella, or so we have been told. Actually, our progress was hindered by cold beer in the sun as we listened peacefully to the lapping of the waves on the sand. |

Mientras
la gente que estan quedando a la Costa del Sol se siente un deseo a veces
a dirigirse a las montañas al interior, la que ya esta en dicha parte
también tiene ganas de irse de repente a la costa, para dar un paseo
por el borde del mar. Los mejores lugares dependen en lo que preguntes, porque toda la gente tiene idea propia, pero uno de nuestros favoritos es Puerto Banus. Una segunda casa a veces para la gente rica y famosa, con bastante puntos de venta de ropa diseño exclusive, tiendas lujosas, y restaurantes muy elegantes para satisfacer los deseos gastando de alquien, hay también una joya espléndida, que no cuesta a la visita nada. Empezando a la estatua de Neptune, con las montañas al fondo, un paseo muy establecido va de la ciudad por la playa, hacia Marbella. Aparte de una desviación corta por la arena, porque no hay una fila de casas tan cercano del mar que no es bastante espacio, el sendero es ancho, terreno llano y bien mantenido. Muy usada por el fin de semana también, con caminantes fuertes, caminantes con perros o con maridos, y por supuesto las bicicletas pasando a toda prisa. El ambiente es animado. Por contrasto completo, en la semana es perfecto para los que prefieren algo más tranquilo. Ofreciendo vistas bonitas por todo el camino, el sendero va a Marbella o así nos dicen. En efecto, nuestro progreso se impedió por cerveza fría mientras eschuchamos al sonido de las olas chapoteando en la arena. |
