| The
area covered is based around the beautiful countryside of the
Guadalhorce Valley and the Sierra de as Nieves. There are many
white villages or pueblos to explore in the Guadalhorce Valley
such as Alora, Zalea, Pizarra, Carratraca, Ardales, El Chorro
and the Lakes, El Torcal, Coin, Antequera and Valle de Abdalajis,
while in the Sierra de las Nieves you can explore Tolox, Guaro,
Ojen, Yunquera and Istan. Marbella and Puerto Banus, which are
on the nearby Costa del Sol, are also well worth a visit. We
also have holiday homes in Alcaucin,
Almachar, Benamargosa, Comares, Casares, Competa, Cutar, Iznajar,
Lake Vinuela, Las Mellizas, Mijas Costa, Periana, Ronda, San
Pedro, Velez Malaga, Villanueva de la Concepcion and Villanueva
del Rosario. |
Alora
- 40km inland along the A357 from Malaga and the Costa del
Sol and only 30 minutes drive to the stunning Guadalhorce
lakes and El Chorro Gorge, this lovely white pueblo overlooks
the Valley of the Sun (Valle del Sol) and has all the charm
of a very Spanish village, but is fast becoming a vibrant
town with pavement cafes, music bars and all modern amenities.
The people of Alora are quite rightly proud of their pueblo
and their welcome and friendliness are as warm as the sunshine.
Visitors can wander through the intriguing narrow streets,
which constantly offer surprising views at almost every turn,
one of the most spectacular panoramas being from the old Arab
Castle (Castillo Arabe). Two squares, the Plaza Arriba (upper
square) and Plaza Bajo (lower square) are fringed with beautiful
examples of Spanish architecture and tiling and are peppered
with delightful bars and restaurants. Traditional Spanish
tapas abound and the restaurants are relaxed and reasonably
priced. Accommodation for holiday rental - Villas in Alora,

Guadalhorce
Lakes and El Chorro Gorge - Just off the A357 linking
Malaga with Campillos, via a turn to the right near the white
pueblo of Ardales, is the wonderful world of the Guadalhorce
Lakes. A sparkling jewel of stunning turquoise waters set amongst
pine-clad hills, where you can walk, swim, hire a pedalo or
canoe, enjoy a picnic, barbecue or have lunch at one of several
excellent restaurants. A little further on from the lakes you
can reach the famous El Chorro Gorge and the Camino del Rey,
famous with climbers worldwide. Its fascinating crags are home
to the wonderful griffin vultures which make an unforgettable
sight. We have great self-catering rooms, bed and breakfast
rooms within walking distance of the crags, an excellent location
for climbers and hikers. Accommodation for holiday rental -

| Monda
- Midway between the valley and the mountains, protected
from the wind by a hill on which is situated the Castillo
de la Villeta, now a luxury hotel, is the beautiful town of
Monda, which was declared the Paraje Pintoresco (Most Beautiful
Place) in 1971. In Monda you can still see the most interesting
remains in the whole of the Sierras de las Nieves of the Medieval
and Roman road. Situated about 700 metres from the town in
the direction of Coin, it is made up of three parts, one Roman,
another with Medieval alterations and a third, the most recent,
which has a series of small steps. Accommodation for holiday
rental - Chalets in Coin, Villas in Coin.
|
Coin
- Officially decreed a city by King Alfonso XIII in 1925, Coin
is a rapidly developing commercial area, with a large and lively
shopping complex near the Town Hall in the centre and a more
modern shopping mall called La Trocha on the outskirts of the
city on the road to Cartama, which includes a Dunnes department
store, a bowling alley and a multi-screen cinema. There is also
an important ceramics factory on the road to Fuengirola.
Offering an exciting combination of modern city life, with the
still evident relaxed and slower pace more in keeping with the
rural Spanish tradition, it is no wonder that Coin is such a
popular place for visitors to Andalucia. Accommodation for holiday
rental - Chalets in Coin, Villas in Coin. |
| Guaro
- The intense aroma of the white and pink almond
blossom in the spring tells the traveller that they are in
the proximity of Guaro, a beautiful town, which thanks to
its strategic location goes back to the history of the Iron
Age. The coat of arms of the Condado de Guaro is a reminder
of the government that existed in this locality, which was
handed over to the catholic kings after the taking of Coin
in 1485. In 1614 it was declared a small town and was designated
the capital of the county by King Felipe IV. The water of
the Rio Grande is a symbol of the economic life of Guaro and
is a toast to the natural beauty. Accommodation for holiday
rental - Villas in Guaro, Villas in Coin, Chalets in Coin.
|
| Tolox
- Tolox is situated in the heart of the Sierras de
las Nieves, an area of extreme contrasts between white limestone
and pink rocky outcrops where you can find the emblematic
crest of the Pico Torrecilla and the Sima GESM. Its origin
goes back to neolithical times, as can be seen from the Cueva
de la Tinaja, which has remains of decorative ceramic vases.
There are a few references in the names of the streets to
what was once a castle, which was the centre of Moroccan rebellions
and fierce battles between Christians and Muslims. Accommodation
for holiday rental - Country Hotels in Tolox, Villas in Guaro,
Chalets in Coin, Villas in Coin.
|
| Ojen
- Ojen is situated between Las Sierras Blanca and
Alpujata in a place of great natural beauty. It is a colourful
town between the sea and the mountains with a typical Andalusian
flavour, with its narrow streets, architectural style and
abundance of flowers. Caves in the area indicate the existence
of neolithical families, although it is was in the 10th Century
that Islamic records first made reference to this village
in which a castle, now destroyed, passed from ruler to another
during a series of rebellions and conquests. It was re-populated
by Christians from the Valle del Guadalquivir. So close to
the cosmopolitan atmosphere on the coast, this town in the
rural inland area offers a great deal to passing travellers.
Accommodation for holiday rental - Chalets in Coin, Villas
in Coin.
|
| Alozaina
- Alozaina, which means little fortress, marks the
thoroughfare between the Hoya de Malaga and the Sierra. Its
land, rich in architectural remains, is a harmonious combination
between the cultivation of olives, fruits and cereals and
the majesty of Sierra Prieta, which climbs to a height of
1.525m. This highland village, with many signs of Muslim culture,
saw the birth of Maria Sagredo, the heroine of the pueblo,
who defended it against the Moors by throwing beehives at
them, at a time when the village was only occupied by women,
children and old people. This beautiful location offers visitors
delightful views and delicious food. Accommodation for holiday
rental - Chalets in Coin, Villas in Coin. |
| Yunquera
- With some of the most extensive forests of the
Spanish pine tree, pinsapo, in the world, Yunquera owes its
name to the huge quantity of juncos (reeds) that exist in
the area, giving an idea of the abundance of water in the
locality. Possibly of Roman origin, although there are no
remains of this era, the Christians established themselves
in this beautiful land before the arrival of the Berbers in
the 8th Century. The castle stronghold that dominates this
zone from the top of the mountain offers a majestic view over
Yunquera and the luxuriant natural beauty of the area. Accommodation
for holiday rental - Chalets in Coin, Villas in Coin. |
Casarabonela
- A town of mixed cultures, Casarabonela is one of
the Malaguenan pueblos that has best united its Muslim and
Christian past, conserving a good part of the old Casr-Bonaira
arabe road. Its steep and narrow streets are filled with blind
alleys and elevated buildings, with the road passing underneath
them. There is always a spring or water fountain nearby for
the thirsty traveller. The Roman Castra Vinaria is today a
pool of peace that from its raised height looks down over
a beautiful swathe of fertile farmland, sprinkled with white
farmhouses. In Casarabonela the wild mountainside merges with
the street, the river with the fountain, yet still existing
in its tranquil corners you can hear the echoes of bygone
battles. Accommodation for holiday rental - Villas in Zalea,
Villas in Alora, Apartments in Alora, Chalets in Alora. |
| Casares
- Situated near Estepona, Manilva and Gaucin, has been famous
since Roman times for its spa waters from a local spring, which
apparently cured Julius Caesar of a liver problem, and since
1978 its historical and artistic heritage has been officially
protected. Ranking as one of the most photographed whilte pueblos
in Andalucia, Casares, with its Moorish style clifftop houses
and narrow, windy streets, is only 14 kilometres from the beautiful
beaches of the Costa del Sol, providing visitors with a taste
of both inland and coastal life. Being surrounded by the natural
parks of the Sierra Bermeja and Sierra Crestellina, there is
plenty of scope for further exploration. Accommodation for holiday
rental - Villas in Casares, Apartments in San Pedro near Estepona. |
Ronda
- Incredible views keep opening up across the valleys
and mountains, sometimes making you dizzy as a result of their
magnitude and of course the height of the many incredible
vantage points. There is no shortage of extremely tempting
and very sophisticated restaurants in the town, some with
superb patios seemingly on the edge of the world and there
are also lots of little tapas bars. You could choose to simply
wander around, enjoying the lively atmosphere, the wonderful
architecture and the lovely, colourful, shady and well kept
gardens near the bullring, perhaps take a sightseeing ride
in a splendid horse drawn carriage or you could visit some
of the interesting museums. Accommodation for holiday rental
- Hotels in Ronda, Villas in Casares. |

| Sierra
de las Nieves - Located in the mid western
part of the province, this region is home to one of
the most unusual and varied landscapes of the whole
region. Stretching out behind Marebella, it is a rugged
and small mountain range of exceptional ecological
richness, which was declared a National Park in 1989.
The park has a diverse and unusual collection of rare
flora, amongst which you can find the Gall Oak and
the Pinsapo (Spanish pine). In the low areas of the
park there are some outstanding examples of the Holm
Oak and the Corn Oak, as well as small clusters of
carob trees and chestnut trees. There are many species
of protected animals that live within the park, such
as the wild cat, the golden eagle and the otter, of
which there are few specimens left. UNESCO acknowledged
the exceptional features of the area and included
it in their list of special places in 1999 under the
name of 'Sierra de las Nieves y su entorno' and it
is today part of the International Network of Biosphere
Reserves. |
Periana
- Dates back to Prehistoric times, taking its name
from two ancient defensive positions Pereiro and Santana,
and it is situated on the north side of Lake Vinuela,
where the Guaro River begins. Due to its excellent
natural water source, it is a lush agricultural area,
well known for its olive oil and peaches.
547 metres above sea level, the village offers spectacular
views towards the lake and the sea beyond, as well
as views of Mount Maroma, the largest in the province
of Malaga (6,800 ft). Accommodation for holiday rental

During its Moslem occupation the village was one of the ‘Four
